Question Tag
Question tag is short question thats ever to final question in the
sentence. In indonesian language, question tag to be able to
meaned?/no?/yes?/ok?
Some rules in the question tag, is:
1.
If positive sentence, so
question tag is negative sentence.
Examples:
§Soyong is smart, isn’t she?
§ Won Bin and Tim are making a
bowl of noodle, aren’t they?
note: if question
tag negative, so “not” must be shorted.
Example : isn’t he? bukan is not he?
2.
If sentence is forbiden or
imperative sentence, is used “will you” for question tag.
Examples:
§ Don’t be noise, will you?
§ Don’t make me upset, will you?
3. if negative sentence, so
question tag is positive.
Example:
§Soyong is not smart, is she?
§ Won Bin and Tim are not making a
bowl of noodle, are they?
4. If the sentence is used verb, so used do/does or did (past tense).
Example:
§Sinta buys Amanda Cakes in
Bandung, doesn’t she?
§ Jack found the key on that desk,
didn’t he?
5. If subject “I am”, so question tag “aren’t”. If subject “I am not”, so
question tag is “am i”
Examples:
§ I am not rude, am I?
§ I am diligent, aren’t I?
6.
if subject is used modals, so
used modals for question tag. Especially for modals “have to”, used modals “do”
for question tag.
Examples:
§Taeyeon will be come back soon,
won’t she?
§ Jack can’t drive a car, can he?
§ They have to make a film now,
don’t they?
7.
if subject somebody, everyone,
someone, everybody, no one, and nobody, so used “they” in the question tag.
Examples:
§ Everybody went to the
restaurant, didn’t they?
§ Somebody brought the guitar to
my studio last week, didn’t they?
8.
if subject is a word means
negative, example nobody, hardly no one, rarely nothing, seldom, barely if used
positive question tag.
Examples:
§ No one come to my house, do
they?
§ She never seems to care, does
she?
9. if subjects are something, everything, and nothing, so used “it” in the
question tag.
Examples:
§ Something is moving, isn’t it?
§ Everything should be ready,
shouldn’t it?
Examples:
§ Let’s forget it, shall we?
§ Let’s draw the good picture
here, shall we?
